I have turned many small pieces from this species, just love the heartwood/sapwood contrast, which is clearly seen on this small box. Quite a hard timber.

This box of Columbian Purple Heart was made of offcuts from a local joinery shop. The box corners are finger jointed, with lid from fiddleback N.Z. Silver Beech. Box bottom is lined with a black velvet like material.
